Mel, District Deputy, Forwarded this on via Joe Hajduk in Farmington regarding a scam out there directed at  Knights.
Brother Knights,
I was recently contacted by someone trying to use an old scam to get money from members of the Knights of Columbus.  I remember receiving a warning about this around 6 years ago.  3 years ago I was called and now they tried again this week.  This is how the scam works:
The scammer calls a local church to get a contact number for the Knights.  When he gets ahold of the Knight, he says he is the son or grandson of a Knight and he is stranded and needs money to get home.  He was working for a trucker or mover and was left stranded at a truck stop when his employer ran out without paying him.  He just needs enough money to get home.
Please warn members of your councils not to fall for this old scam.
Thank you
